Chasing Existence

Based on the uphill arduous battle of simply living, "Chasing Existence" illustrates how difficult that struggle can be for anyone, specifically if a person has a mental health disorder or is distraught from life's events. The use of black and white against specific areas of vivid color is how the artist displays the emotions tied to each area of the painting. the darker regions suggest feelings of inadequacy, isolation, chaos, while the brightly colored spots are a visualization of a radiant, carefree existence. For some individuals, the chase is never really over, which is exhibited in the ominous underground beneath the euphoric above, always lurking around the corner and waiting to reveal the gloom behind the joy.
